The Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging has been awarded a grant of $45,000 by the Louis and Violet Rubin Fund of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.

Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging (NIAAA), in collaboration with Crusader Community Health, Presence Health, Rockford Health Council, Lifescape Community Services, and Rock Valley College Dental Hygiene Program, will provide oral health care to residents residing in Boone, Ogle, Stephenson, and Winnebago counties. This partnership established the Oral Health Coalition in 2010 based on findings and priorities identified in the Rockford Health Council Healthy Community Study. Its mission is to provide education, financial assistance, and a systematic link allowing vulnerable adults access to oral health care.

The Community Foundation of Northern Illinois is the area’s largest provider of grants and scholarships. Its mission is to attract, grow and preserve an endowment for the needs of the people of Northern Illinois.

NIAAA is a non-profit organization and has been designated by the Illinois Department on Aging to be the area agency on aging for northwestern Illinois.
NIAAA is part of the “aging network,” which includes the federal Administration on Aging, the Illinois Department on Aging, and local public/private organizations serving older adults.
